Packing for Iceland

Almost all of the stuff you see here has to go into the backpack in the middle.

Greenpeace @ Porsche?

So far I’ve seen nothing in the blogosphere and only one news article (autogazette, German), but apparently, Greenpeace is demonstrating against Porsche here in Stuttgart.
I noticed a couple of posters on one of the Porsche buildings:

They say (translated):

Good to know: Porsche contributes less than 0,1% to [...]

Kaltenberg medieval fair

I’ve been to the Kaltenberg medieval fair near Munich this weekend.
Overall impression
Kaltenberg is a really nice fair; Hundreds of professional/semi-professional medieval actors are running around. The castle and the surrounding areas are styled like the old times at big expenses: Traders have little huts in the forest, there are tents, a house made from trees [...]

Totem or xine on Ubuntu 7.10: No sound when playing realmedia files/streams

Open ~/.xine/catalog.cache, find the [/usr/lib/xine/plugins/1.1.4/xineplug_decode_real_audio.so] section, set decoder_priority=5 to =10.
Should work.

High-end, free-software-only laptop

Mark Shuttleworth - founder of Ubuntu - started a mailing list for people interested in buying a high-end, free-software-only laptop. These days you need binary-only firmware or software for at least one part in most laptops; This mailing list is trying to put an end to it.
It’s a start. I’m subscribed.
