Iceland travel diary 13
Having taken in some energy, I feel much better. How amazing are these showers? The camping site at the entrance of Reyðarfjörður is free of charge and the shows are the most comfortable since the start of the journey:
- Working, readable, faultless instruments
- Hot water
- High water pressure
- Very clean
- Water smells and tastes normal
You don’t get that every day (granted, you can’t expect it either).

For dessert, we had Skyr again. It’s an Iceland specialty between curd and yoghurt, maybe most similar to German “Fruchtzwerge“, and only 160 Kr (1,75 €) for a cup of 500 g. Really tasty! Apart from that, we treated ourselves to a “Maltextrakt”, a malt beer that’s really good (also from Iceland).
P.S.: In the area of the east fjords the ring road is often gravel for kilometers; A car without tyre profile is swimming really awkwardly there.
P.P.S.: Something’s booming here in Iceland - since the travel start I got irritated eyes, but not bad enough to take medication. The other’s are noticing the effect as well.
