Early bird
I’ve really grown into an early bird lately. I’ve always had symptoms, but I’ve recently noticed that my life really is better when I get up earlier.
Currently I wake up on sunrise, which was about 6:50 this morning. I sleep 8 hours, and that’s my daily schedule (except for the days I sleep at my girlfriend’s place).
The biggest effect I observed when I tried to change my schedule to sleeping between 0:00 and 8:00. Yes, I am slightly more awake when getting up at 8:00. The problem is that I get most of my work done in the morning and even though I was less tired in the evenings (because bedtime was at 0:00), I was in no mood at all for working. So, when getting up later, my lazy times actually increase.
On the other hand, getting up at 6:50, I’m usually pretty well rested and am quite eager to work, and I think there’s a huge advantage when you’re already finished with work only a few hours after lunch (14:00 to 15:00).
Another smaller effect of being an early bird is that there are less people awake/online to socialize with. This is both good and bad; Good, because you get more work done when less distracted. Bad, because socializing is important and much good chatter happens in the evenings. Even worse, I have less time to spend with my girlfriend online (she sleeps differently), and I’m tired earlier when I’m with her.
Anyway, as long as I can work using my own schedule - thanks, diploma thesis - I’ll get up early. In the end, my belief is that humans are quite changeable animals, and can adapt to almost any environment (as can be seen for shift workers).

In most cases I have 7 hours and stand up 5:50… it’s so nice to leave work at 16:00
