I’m deleted… - or am I?
In my recent crusade course of working on my data traces online I wrote to LovelyBooks (a book readers’ community) to have my account deleted.
I never got any reply on that, but today I noticed I can’t log in anymore. Which is perfectly alright, I just would have liked a little note to my mail address confirming that it’s done. Also, isn’t it weird that they deleted my account registered to a different mail address than the one I sent the quit message from? (It’s similar, but not the same!)
Doing a search for my nickname & “lovelybooks” on Google (where all member profiles are 100% readable and searchable without logging in) turned up my user page with the message that my user has been deactivated.
Official affirmation of my quit, after all. Just not as easily visible as a simple mail.
P.S.: Bizarre. In some Google search results (even reloading the search page a couple of times helps) I get a link to my book catalogue (instead of my - deactivated - profile). And the catalogue still works, even applying filters. I told the webmaster.
P.P.S.: Fixed.
