Protection of data privacy
There’s only so much you can do for you personal data privacy.
In the research for my diploma thesis, I stumbled upon an employee of Alcatel-Lucent who is a member in a big standards organization. I know somebody from Alcatel-Lucent, so I knew about the last merger, and I was wondering if this particular employee came from (former) Alcatel or Lucent.
The first Google result is about said person losing his membership in the standards organization with Lucent, announced on a public mailing list of this organization.
I shouldn’t find it odd - but I do - that I can find out parts of personal careers through publicly available websites. Not that it wasn’t possible before the Internet; Phones reach all of earth as well. But now, it’s at my fingertips, and sometimes there’s no way get the data better protected.
